I almost am afraid to speak of such things. I just feel like I am going to jinx this, We have had the same complaint around Amarillo for quite some time and it seems that for at least the time being things are calming down.

The gates are closed. Our childhood is gone. The Tascosa Drive-In, the last drive-in theater standing in Amarillo is closed. They had their last showing over the weekend. That part of our life is over. Or is it?

In the spirit of rushing every single holiday. That is what we do. We never slow down. I don't really know if we even know how to do that. Since Halloween is almost here and gone and Thanksgiving will be here before you know it; we need to make a plan.

There are just some things that we don't handle well in Amarillo. We love our Whataburger. We miss our Taco Villa when we move away or even leave for a weekend trip.

One thing we for sure knew last week was that Texas was going to have a team in the World Series. The biggest games in baseball and Texas was going to have a horse in the race.

Everyone who is anyone knows about The Big Texan Steak Challenge. I mean if you are driving anywhere on I40 you are destined to see one of the billboards they have boasting about it.

We have been following this for a while. What started off with what I bet was a slip on the part of Coldwell Bankers a bit ago. They let it slip that HomeGoods was coming to Amarillo.

It was the early nineties and I remember the phone call. My best friend told me about this club I needed to attend. I had never been to a club. I was newly in college. All I knew was I needed to go.

Back when I was in college we would go to lunch every Tuesday to Kabuki on I40 near Western. That was when they had lunch specials. It was always the steak special on that day. This was an every single week routine.

This is one of those stories that I am following closely. Ever since I got back from a trip to Dallas and figured out what Amarillo was missing, this has interested me. See I spend a lot of time at HomeGoods and wonder why we don't have one.
