In a speech today, the defence secretary is expected to announce the deployment of the army, navy and RAF personnel to the 31-nation Steadfast Defender military exercise across Europe.

Exercise Prasthan 2023 was conducted by the Naval Officer-in-Charge, Andhra Pradesh, under the Eastern Naval Command, to ensure the security of offshore development areas in Kakinada. The exercise involved multiple organizations, including the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, oil operators, port authorities, and state agencies. Various scenarios, such as terrorist attacks and oil spills, were simulated to test the efficacy of security mechanisms.
