Scot Peterson was charged with neglect of a child and culpable negligence in the attack on Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that killed 17.

Former Broward County Deputy Scot Peterson wept as the verdicts were read. The jury had deliberated for 19 hours over the course of four days.

Scot Peterson was the only armed resource officer assigned to Floridas Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, the site of a 2018 mass shooting in which 17 died.

The jury deliberated for 19 hours over four days before reaching a verdict.

The 60-year-old was the deputy assigned to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School when a shooter murdered 17 people there five years ago.
