An alumnus of one of South Africa’s oldest schools has backed a crowdfunding campaign in a big way to hook the school up to solar power.

On-loan defender Mark Fish has decided to retire from football in the wake of his disastrous 45-minute Town debut at QPR a week ago. The former South African international, 31, says a knee injury is preventing him from playing at his best.

The Blues suffered their first defeat of the season as they travelled to QPR and lost 2-1. Kevin Gallen and Martin Rowlands netted as the home side dominated the first half, before Sam Parkin scored his first Town goal as the Blues improved after the break.

Boss Joe Royle said he had to field loanee Mark Fish in the defeat against QPR despite the South Africans obvious lack of fitness. Fish endured a nightmare first half in which the Blues conceded two goals before being replaced.
