Here’s how stock futures are trading after Wednesday’s market slip.

U.S. stocks declined Thursday, as traders weighed sharp swings in stocks and rates to start the month.

The Journal Record Index increased slightly last week, up 14.55 points to 1,979.36. Advancing issues beat out declining issues by a better than 2-to-1 margin.

The losses were broad and included banks, health care companies, and retailers. Treasury yields continued to rise as the Federal Reserve fights inflation.

U.S. stocks closed lower in a bear market, with the S&P 500 notching a 2022 low on growing global recession fears. Treasury yields rose.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average became the last of the major U.S. stock indexes to fall into what’s known as a bear market Monday as Wall Street deepened its slump amid growing fears of a global recession. The blue chip index fell 1.1%, while the S&P 500 closed 1% lower

The losses on stock exchanges Monday were broad and included banks, healthcare companies and retailers.

Wall Street is worried that the Fed’s rate hikes will pump the brakes too hard on the economy and cause a recession.
