“The footprint of this fits within the existing soccer field that’s there currently,” City Planner Mark Jenniges said of the rectangle shaped arena proposed to be built near Mitchell's airport.
“The dispensary issues are uncontrollable, and it brings an element into society that is not conducive, I believe, to what the city is planning to do with Main Street,” Don Dahl said at the meeting.
“I’ve never seen a snow storm take down one of my buildings like this one did,” Arlen Schuh said of the early January blizzard that hammered Mitchell with 23 inches of snow over two days.
According to City Attorney Justin Johnson’s memo to the council, the TIF will be used to fund infrastructure work needed for the small-scale housing development to materialize.
