Because of elevated temperatures across the state, the state issued a Flex Alert asking all Californians to voluntarily reduce their energy consumption for five hours on Wednesday.

A power outage reported Friday morning initially left thousands of PG&E customers without power in Atascadero.

Community members can attend virtually at noon and the event is expected to last through 1:30 pm today.

3,458 PG&E customers were initially left without power after an outage was reported in Atascadero Monday morning.

Even with a heat advisory in effect, people stepped outdoors and flocked to the beach to surf or walk their dogs.

A PG&E outage Wednesday occurred near Cuesta College, affecting campus operations. Around the same time, another outage occurred near highway 41 between Morro Bay and Atascadero.

Starting January 1st, the average household saw their PG&E electricity bill increase by about $12 and then on March 1st, another increase of about $14 on average.

Today the California ISO released 2021 statistics about renewable energy, resources, historical data and curtailment totals. Among the report also noted an increased number of flex alerts, going from 5 last year to a total of 8 this year.

The storm that moved across the region Monday night has died down, giving PG&E time to catch up on repairs.

The anticipated storm has finally made its way to the Central Coast Monday, and local agencies are preparing for the aftermath in the next few days.
