A battle over diversity and tax dollars is being waged in Wisconsin. A deal would give higher pay to all Universities of Wisconsin workers and a new engineering building. In exchange, the universities would cut some jobs dedicated to diversity.

The University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee will close its Washington County campus by June 30, 2024, universities officials have announced.

This is the latest shift as the state system faces ongoing enrollment declines at most of its 13 community colleges. The Universities of Wisconsin system plans to close a two-year branch campus and end in-person classes at two others, UW Milwaukee at Washington County and UW Oshkosh, Fond du Lac.

The University of Wisconsin decided to end in-person instruction at their UW-Milwaukee at Washington County and UW Oshkosh at Fond du Lac campuses.
