Two individuals very familiar to Mountaineer fans have new deals.

Retired Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby will return to Northern Iowa to serve as interim athletic director, the school announced Wednesday. Bob Bowlsby had the job previously in the 1980s and early 90s.

Bob Bowlsby will return on a temporary basis to lead the Northern Iowa athletic department while the school searches for a permanent AD.

Just one year into the public portion of University of Northern Iowa's $250 million comprehensive fundraising campaign, the Cedar Falls campus already is most of the way to its goal — putting it more than two years ahead of schedule.

UNI President Mark Nook confirmed on Tuesday that Director of Athletics David Harris has accepted the same role at Tulane University in New Orleans.

Harris is the second-straight AD from UNI to take a position at Tulane, following Troy Dannen.
