Although hospitals are beginning to admit fewer COVID-19 patients this week, data from the Carroll County Health Department released Tuesday show that 15 Carroll County residents died as a result of the virus.

Eight Carroll County residents died this past week from in the last week due to the coronavirus, according to data from the Carroll County Health Department.

As the latest surge of COVID-19 cases continues to impact Carroll County, the health department reported 4 deaths this week due to the virus. On Tuesday, Carroll Hospital’s patient count was elevated once again, with 180 total patients, 63 of whom have tested positive for COVID-19. In the Critical Care Unit, 15 patients, all of whom are COVID positive, were being cared for, with all but two on ventilators. Three of those 15 patients had been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Carroll County, along with the rest of the state, continues to feel the effects of the most recent COVID-19 case surge, including an increased need for testing prior to the upcoming holiday.
