Haryana's Minister of State for Irrigation and Water Resources, Abhe Singh Yadav Friday visited several villages in the Ambala and Kurukshetra districts, where significant damage had occurred during the 2023 floods.

The flow of water increased in the river following heavy to extremely heavy rains in the hills of Himachal Pradesh. As per reports, this is the fourth time that the Markanda river has overflowed during this monsoon season. Several farmers from affected villages in Kurukshetra claimed that their crops were submerged, and the government did not provide any compensation yet.

As per reports, the water levels in the overflowing rivers of Yamuna, Ghaggar, Markanda and Tangri river have come down, resulting in a decrease in the flow of flood water into the villages of Karnal, Kurukshetra, Kaithal and Panipat districts.

According to Karnal deputy director of agriculture and farmers welfare department, Aditya Dabas, the crop of paddy has submerged in the fields of those areas which are situated near the Yamuna river in the district.
