Subscriber only A Coast cop fresh from the country has swapped the taser for tinsel and is spreading Christmas cheer one car at a time. The jolly man, decked out in red and blue, has been bringing smiles to motorists while assisting in traffic diversions in Maroochydore. The man with the Christmas spirit has been identified as Maroochydore Police Sergeant Topher McLoughlin. Sgt McLoughlin said he just wanted to bring cheer to the Coast. I think that there s uncertain times currently with COVID and financial stress for families, there s an opportunity there for police to really humanise what we do, he said.
