Tichelaar to speak at meeting | News, Sports, Jobs

Feb 4, 2021 MARQUETTE Camp #266 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War will hold its bi-monthly meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday via Zoom. The speaker for the meeting is Upper Peninsula historian Tyler Tichelaar, who will speak about the Upper Peninsula during the Civil War era. Anyone interested in the history of the Civil War is welcome to attend. The link is available on the organization’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/SUVCWCamp266. Tichelaar has a Ph.D. in literature and owns Marquette Fiction, his own publishing company and Superior Book Productions, a professional editing, proofreading and book layout company.

Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War MARQUETTE Camp #266 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War will hold their bi-monthly meeting on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. via Zoom. The speaker for the meeting is U. P. historian, Tyler Tichelaar. Tyler has a PhD in Literature and owns Marquette Fiction, his own publishing company and Superior Book Productions, a professional editing, proofreading, and book layout company. Tyler is especially proud to be a seventh generation Marquette, Michigan resident. His latest book is “Kawbawgam: The Chief, The Legend, The Man.” He will talk about the Upper Peninsula during the Civil War era.

UPPAA Publications Chairman Mikel Classen of Sault Ste. Marie initiated the list as a response to the lack of representation of U.P. writers in other Michigan state literary circles. “Traditionally, recognition of Michigan books has been dominated by the university presses downstate, and we would like to take this opportunity to highlight literature that focuses closer to home for us,” Classen said in a news release.
