The firm is part of MK’s history

Swedish company Zound Industries has acquired guitar amp maker Marshall Amplifier, having previously licensed its speakers and headphones.

Though the Marshall family will retain a 24 percent stake in the company, the sale marks the end of 60+ years of family ownership of the legendary amp firm.

The privately owned Swedish firm, which already designs and develops speakers and headphones using the Marshall brand, will create a newly formed company called the Marshall Group.

Since 2010, Zound Industries has been bringing the Marshall brand to a global consumer audience through its range of headphones and wireless speakers. Now the long-term licensing deal is turning into an acquisition.
