Keeping business and politics separate is a challenge in a small town with a small pool of active people, Center Party MP Martin Repinski says, in the context of the detention under suspicion of corruption of the Mayor of Kohtla Järve, and close to a dozen of his associates.
MP Kaido Höövelson has not ruled out the possibility of becoming the Center Party's lead candidate in Ida-Viru County. "Anything is possible. It can't be ruled out, but it's not 100 percent certain," Höövelson said in response to a question from ERR. Höövelson said, it will become clear once Center's executive board confirms its list of candidates.
Aleksei Jevgrafov, former mayor of Narva and member of Reform during the early 2000s, is in talks about standing as a candidate for the Center Party in the upcoming Riigikogu elections.
Center Party MP Siret Kotka divested herself of three properties in August, which she had allegedly used to obtain undeclared rental income. Kotka had also allegedly been claiming expenses for several years in respect of a rental property – this time one in which she is a tenant – in Tallinn, rather than residing in any of four apartments that she has reportedly owned during that time.
Siret Kotka, deputy chair of the Social Affairs Committee of the Riigikogu and a member of the Center Party, who owns several apartments in Tallinn, lives in a rented flat and collects her housing allowance from the Chancellery of the Riigikogu.
