Papa Alpaca s Petting Zoo made a special trip to the Adair County Public Library on Thursday, July 13. Hundreds of children and adults attended the event, which was held on the shaded north lawn of the library. Green Castle farmer Randy Jones brought the animals to the library for the event. Raffle tickets were distributed and prizes were given out after the event.
The 76th Annual NEMO Fair officially opens on Monday, July 17 at 7 p.m., when opening ceremonies will take place at the flagpole. Admission to the fair is free on Monday, and discounted advanced season pass sales will end at the start of the ceremonies.
The All-American Red, White and Blue Classic Car Show was held Saturday, July 1 in the downtown Cinema 8 parking lot. Cars from all over Missouri were showcased in the four-hour exhibit and trophies were given out at the end of the day.
The annual Novinger History Day was held on Sunday, June 25 in and around Novinger. Among the new items on the program were a quilt show on display in the former Methodist Church at 606 Davis Street. Also new was Dr. Thaddeus Buckminster and his assistant (Jim and Evelyn Wilson), who spoke about the elixir they were promoting for good health.
With the NEMO Fair set to open on July 18, a lot of preparation has been taking place behind the scenes to make the fairgrounds attractive and accommodating to spectators and participants alike.
