Scientists in Bangladesh have reported a new Covid-19 strain, which is a bit similar to the one found in the UK recently.
Analysing data in early November, a team of Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research observed new mutations in novel coronavirus strains. We observed that one new strain was almost similar to the one found in the United Kingdom. It was not 100 percent the same. We will start working on it again, Dr Selim Khan, principal scientific officer at the BCSIR and also the head of the team, told The Daily Star yesterday.
Talking to this reporter later in the day, BCSIR Chairman Prof Md Aftab Ali Shaikh advised people not to panic and said the research was still underway.
Passenger held with 130 gold bars at HSIA

Customs officials arrested a passenger with 130 gold bars weighing 15kg at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Tuesday night.
Arrestee Lutfar Rahman Munshi, a resident of Mymensingh, returned home from Dubai.
Customs sources said the seized gold was worth Tk 10.50 crore.
Marufur Rahman, deputy commissioner of the Customs Preventive Team, said they had received intelligence that a passenger would return home from Dubai on flight EK-564 with a huge quantity of gold.
Accordingly, members of the customs (preventive) team took position at different places of the airport. At one stage, they arrested Lutfar and seized the gold bars.
