Veteran photographer Jones laid to rest

Family, friends and colleagues of the New York-based veteran photojournalist Clyde Jones gathered at the St. Mary’s Anglican Church Thursday afternoon to bid him a final farewell.
This was the second memorial for Jones who died on April 3 at the age of 89 at the Mt. Sinai Hospital in Brooklyn.
He was fondly remembered for his passion for Barbados and ensuring the island was well publicised on the world stage.
During the service, Rector of St. Mary’s Church Canon Wayne Isaacs reminded the audience of Jones’ profession as a photographer and advised the congregation to be wary of the images they ascribed to people around them.

Don Murdoch spent 60 years in his white clapboard home before he passed from cancer on April 2, but his legacy lives on through an eclectic, custom-built pipe organ that not only fills the house with music, but literally spills through its nooks and crannies.
Hearts former admin officer burial tomorrow

The remains of a former administrative officer of Accra Hearts of Oak, Elvis Amartei Amartey, will be interred at the Awudome Cemetery tomorrow.
Popularly known as Chairman, the late Amartey, 58, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, after a short illness.
According to a family source, the deceased will be laid in state today, April 21, 2021, at Akoto Lante Amartse We, ahead of a pre-burial service at the St. Mary’s Anglican Church, at 10.am.
Amartey served Hearts for more than three decades.
He left behind a wife and six children.

City hall is in a rush to construct a new parkette in Old Walkerville to showcase the “incredible” $300,000 Hiram Walker sculpture that’s been sitting in storage for three years so it’s completed by the whisky baron’s July 4th birthday.
“We’re planning, as soon as it’s approved by council, to be full steam ahead send it out for tender and get it built,” Heidi Baillargeon, Windsor’s manager of parks development, said Tuesday. A report on the Hiram Walker Parkette goes to city council on Monday.
