After a two-month campaign, the unionized nurses at Maine Medical Center have won back the paid leave benefits that the hospital abruptly ended last December.
Paid leave benefits will be retroactive to December 2022 so nurses who previously used personal time off or went unpaid to cover their leaves will be reimbursed, according to Maine Medical Center.
No other employees at MMC have lost these benefits to date and several MMC nurses report that managers told them these benefits are ending because they joined the union.
