VIRGINIA â Cue the lighting. The Lyric is emerging from the darkness and coming back to the spotlight, as live theater returns to its stage.
âItâs been a very tough past year to not be able to welcome audiences into our space,â said Lyric Center for the Arts Executive Director Mary McReynolds.
But the centerâs Northern Stage Works, a community theater group open to everyone, is setting up for its big return with a production of âProof,â by American playwright David Auburn, in August, with nine performances scheduled throughout the month.
One of the first industries in the country to close its doors and turn off the lights due to the COVID-19 pandemic was the performing arts.
VIRGINIA â ReVive Virginia s popular art walk will be back this year in a new and more frequent form. First Thursdays QC (Quad Cities) is a monthly event that will pair local businesses with local artists, musicians and performers to celebrate the regionâs creative community and small businesses, organizers told the Mesabi Tribune.
âWeâre very excited to make this a monthly event and invite surrounding towns to participate,â Betsy Olivanti, ReVive chairwoman, said in a news release. âCommunity art events lead to repeat customers and increased sales for businesses, and new markets for artists. Itâs a good example of a project that benefits a range of people.â
