Feature artist lecture with Martha Posner
Brutal Beauty is a mid-career retrospective of the artist Martha Posner. The artist will cover her studio practice, influences and the importance of mythology to the narratives she creates. Her work is in service to a better understanding of the trauma women experience, providing perspective to those unable to speak on their own.
Posner is a sculptor living on a farm in Martins Creek, Pennsylvania. She takes much of her inspiration from the 250 acres of surrounding forest, fairy tales and mythology,

Brutal Beauty: The Transformation of Women in Mythology at the Sordoni Art Gallery is a mid-career retrospective of the interdisciplinary artist Martha Posner. Posner is a mixed media artist living and working in Martins Creek, Pennsylvania. Examining themes of trauma and recovery through the lens of classic mythology, Posner’s large scale paintings and sculptures haunt the viewer with an unparalleled perspective on familiar folklore.
