From time to time, the Sun unleashes incredibly powerful ejecta of highly energized stuff called solar flares. But are they dangerous?

Solar flares are energetic bursts of plasma that move outwards from the sun. They form from the interaction of the sun’s magnetic field and rotation.

The storm is linked to a solar flare that occurred on the evening of March 28, and an associated coronal mass ejection (CME) that launched solar plasma towards the Earth.
