A massive fire fanned by hurricane-force winds destroyed at least five buildings in Salisbury, including a motel and several residential buildings.

According to a local named Ravindar Kumar, the fire initially started from a two-wheeler repair shop garage and then it reached to Almirah shop and spread to Balaji Jute Mill.

The internal wooden staircase of the building was completely destroyed, hence the fire-fighting operations were done from the external staircase, said Regional Fire Officer.
