Surfing is a water sport, but in its first decades, the digital world thought outdoor activity could be an excellent way to address a common habit.
Apparently, the expression surfing the internet was introduced by a librarian, and yes, riding waves was an inspiration for the iconic term.

Susan has served as editor and publisher of The Register since 2001, when she began to work with her father Emerson Lynn, who published The Register from 1965-2000. The fourth generation of her family to publish the Register, Susan has also served as president of Kansas Press Association. Susan earned her Master’s in Library Science from Wayne State University and attended the William Allen White School of Journalism at the University of Kansas, earning her bachelor s degree in liberal arts from Western Washington University.
Susan is married to local physician Brian Wolfe, and in their free time, they love to travel, spend time with their grandchildren and get outdoors.
