Biel: Le wins again, grabs the lead

Defending champion Le Quang Liem took the lead at the Grandmaster Triathlon in after convincingly beating top seed Yu Yangyi with the black pieces. Le was the top scorer in classical chess last year, and is again impressing in that discipline this time around. Biel: Keymer beats Yu, leads

The new sole leader of the Grandmaster Triathlon in Biel is Vincent Keymer. The youngest participant in the competition beat top seed Yu Yangyi and was thus able to leave former co-leader Navara behind in the standings. Vincent Keymer won the duel of pursuers in the Biel Grandmaster Tournament on International Chess Day, as he defeated Le Quang Liem with the white pieces. Keymer is now sharing the lead with David Navara. Le Quang Liem was the only player to score a victory in the second round of classical games at the Grandmaster Triathlon in Biel. Meanwhile, sole leader David Navara successfully defended an outstanding endgame with rook and pawn against six pawns in his game against Arjun Erigaisi. David Navara won his first classical game at the Biel Chess Festival to grab the early sole lead in the GM Triathlon. The Czech star defeated Bassem Amin, while Vincent Keymer, who entered the round as co-leader after the rapid, only managed a draw against Jules Moussard.
