The size makes Katlan Israel’s fourth-largest gas reserve. Energean is already developing the Karish, Karish North and Tanin offshore reserves, as well as several blocks in the larger Tamar gas field.

Having brought competition into Israel's gas sector, Mathios Rigas told the "Globes" Energy conference, Energean now wants to put innovation into the global energy industry.

Energean can now file a development plan, which when approved will enable it to begin developing the reservoir.
