Sally now, which is still batting the golf coast in gulf shores, alabama. Sally was downgraded last hour but that is one part of the story. The bigger threat is the torrential rain and lifethreatening storm surge which led thousands of people to evacuate. Look at this. These heavy rains caused widespread flooding, turning streets into rivers and forcing crews to rescue people who just became stranded. More than 500,000 customers in alabama, mississippi and florida are without power as we speak. And officials are warning that coa coastal areas could see the effects for days as the storm slowly moved north. So how long will they feel the effects of sally and where is she headed next. Amid the remembrances there are were calls for stricter gun control. A divided congress denied the president s calls for changes and the National Gun Lobby led by the nra is arguably stronger than ever.
