On the three-year anniversary of the Bay Area’s stunning shelter-in-place announcement, which would be duplicated within days around much of the country, we look back on these three bad years, and the order that was originally only supposed to last for three weeks.
On Sunday, underneath a blue sky and amid warm temperatures, thousands of people flooded the intersection at Castro and Market streets to buy handmade goods, eat food from several food trucks, and, of course, dance to fantastic DJ sets dressed in all sorts of regalia, or not dressed at all.
Coming off a sort of lackluster Saturday lineup, the final extremely sunny day of Outside Lands 2022 closed out the beloved Bay Area music festival with radiant performances from the likes of Amber Mark, Kim Petras, and Mitski, as well as a surprisingly decent set by Post Malone.
37 years after the first Up Your Alley Fair now more commonly known simply as “Dore Alley” was held in SoMa, thousands of people again descended on the intersection of Folsom and Dore streets this past Sunday for the event’s famously sex-positive and kink-friendly atmosphere.
Saturday saw throngs of eager park-goers sitting atop the wooden benches which were made from fallen cypress trees at Presidio Tunnel Tops, sponging up views of the Golden Gate Bridge as Karl the Fog rolled into the SF Bay.
