A trailer caught on fire while it was undergoing repairs in Little Cypress Tuesday night, claiming the life of a dog.

The fire happened at 13334 Highway 62 in Mauriceville, near the intersection with Texla Mill Road. Firefighters were dispatched around 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

Officials are indicating that a lightning strike is what likely caused the fire that devastated the home of Earl Thomas.

Investigators had to sign a warrant to gain access to the property to do an official investigation alongside the fire marshals.

Officials told 12News crew on the scene that Thomas was at the scene, but took off.

Earl Thomas home in Texas was set on fire by a lightning strike on Thursday night, per a report.

Despite the home being declared a "total loss," there were no injuries reported after the incident.
