Wood County Common Pleas Court Judge Matthew Reger has signed a judgment entry that settles a dispute between the Lake Township trustees and James Mlynek, the owner of Woodville Road Nursery. The parties were in a disagreement over two parcels Mlynek was using as a temporary transfer station for piles of leaves and yard waste that were to be mulched at his nursery on the other side of the road. Judge Reger’s order, which was filed May 5, stipulates the board of trustees will consider Mlynek in compliance with the township zoning resolution if he meets certain conditions on the parcels, including:

A mediation hearing date in the legal dispute between the owner of Woodville Road Nursery and Lake Township has been set for April 14 and Wood County Common Pleas Court Judge Matthew Reger has scheduled a trial for May 27. The dispute centers on two parcels purchased in 2017 by James Mlynek, the nursery owner, and the township’s zoning resolution. Mlynek purchased the parcels along Woodville Road to temporarily store leaves before composting them at his nursery business. The parties are at odds over required buffer yards and mounds, the use of the parcels as a transfer station, and whether the township has applied its zoning resolution equitably.

A Lake Township man is scheduled for arraignment Feb. 23 in Wood County Common Pleas Court after being indicted by a county grand jury on 30 counts of kidnapping, felonious assault and rape. The charges against Steven M. Finch, 47, stem from alleged repeated sexual assaults against his wife. The alleged rapes occurred every month from August 2019 to November 2020. Specifications alleging Finch is a sexually violent predator are also included with the charges. In a press release, Paul Dobson, county prosecutor, said that due to the nature of the offenses and the sexually violent predator specification, 19 of the 30 charges carry with them a sentence of life imprisonment without possible parole.
Steven Finch II is indicted on 30 counts of rape, kidnapping and felonious assault charges stemming from alleged repeated sexual assaults against his wife.
