MAYVILLE- Ronald R. McDonald, 85, of Mayville, entered into rest on Friday, March 12, 2021, from COVID-19 complications at St Vincent’s Hospital in Erie.
Ron was born Feb. 11, 1936, in Buffalo, to Ellery and Virginia McDonald.
He attended Lockport High School and was retired from General Motors in Lockport after 28 years. He worked in the wind tunnels testing radiators and the cars.
Ron was an avid hunter, he enjoyed building and racing RC Cars, working in the yard and Tuesday coffee with friends.
He was a local track champion, winning the Mini Stock Championship at Lancaster Speedway in 1971. He raced all around the Northeastern US and Canada with his sons Mike and Ronnie Jr., from Pocono, Virginia Speedway, Cayuga, Barre, Ontario Canada, Ransomville Speedway, Detroit Astrodome, Oswego, and Seneca SpeedwayÃ-just to name a few.

MAYVILLE Chautauqua County Executive PJ Wendel announced Friday that John Griffith, county Office of Emergency Services director, will retire March 1.
Griffith first began his career with the county in April 2012 as a deputy dire coordinator where he provided leadership and support to the Fourth Battalion, which includes 10 fire departments in the southeast corner of Chautauqua County. In October 2017, he was promoted to the position of director of the office.
During his tenure as director, Griffith worked closely with the entire emergency services community in the county to assist the public and emergency responders. He also continued the success of the county’s paramedic fly car response team.

MAYVILLE, N.D. – Amid friendly chatter and jingling bells, a group of about a dozen people – along with a bunch of four-legged friends –stopped outside residents’ windows at a Mayville nursing home, Saturday, Dec. 12, waving and wishing them “Merry Christmas.”
“This is so enjoyable,” Melinda Martin said as she held her dog and waved to a resident in Luther Memorial Home.
