Saudi arabia, and i agree we do have interests with saudi arabia. nobody is saying we should go to war with the saudis or entirely cut them off, but we need to hold these killers responsible, and it seems like the number one person who needs to be held responsible is mbs. he has done a lot of things including kidnapping the prime minister of lebanon. hes done a few good things including letting women drive. hopefully saudi arabia can keep the reforms going, but mbs has not shown he has the wisdo...

Didnt mean to kill him. and that came, according to the report, without clearance from the top, so from the crown prince mbs. as you know, it is a highly unlikely scenario in such a tightly controlled regime. that report which we reported on on monday still hasnt been released and that fuels speculation that the saudis are still trying to work out their story. >> alex, thank you for wrapping it all up for us. it is a prime piece of reestareeal estate in the d.c. was president trump involved in...

Chris, that i think your viewers might want to know. muhammad bin salman is the third crown prince in saudi arabia in the last four years. >> right. >> this is not a hereditary position in the sense of direct lineage from the king. it is now, but thats only because of a vote by the royal family. it might be that the only way to stabilize the saudi/american relationship is to distance ourselves from the america, mohammed bin salman relationship. >> thats complicated to see how quickly and how muc...

Punishing the saudis. whats your rear action? >> well, they may be hedging their bets. clearly the circumstantial evidence that not only did the saudis willfully and in a premeditated way murder jamal khashoggi, but in mbss mind, the notion that this operation would have been carried out, so risky, so politically explosive and fraught with implications without not just the foreknowledge but the validation of the crown prince strains credulity to the breaking point. secretary mnuchin not going wa...

Turkey, it would be a way of defusing the dispute between turkey and saudi arabia. it would be a way of the u.s. keeping its bet on mbs, and so there is some risk that the three of these will agree on some weak and unconvincing explanation from mbs blaming it on somebody else. the truth is that u.s. and turkish intelligence have a close relationship. if we wanted to get to the bottom of this, we would ask turkey for the tapes that they have. and we would listen to them, and i think that would di...

Turkey says that they have. and they should release it, right? >> well, i mean it does sound like the turks have the smoking gun. but i suspect theyre going to use it strategically. i mean i thought it was pretty interesting that the details from the tape that emerged today only occurred a day after mike pompeo was in riyadh and looking like he was being very buddy-buddy with mohammed bin salman. and i suspect the turks didnt like that, and so they put this out there basically to encourage the u...

Interrogate the man. among the interrogators were told a forensic expert. at least four of them reported by "the new york times" to be associates of the crown prince mbs himself. turkish intelligence say they had the place bugged and theres audio. the interrogators from the kingdom were an assassination squad. today the hope of the consulate general was searched. hes reportedly said "do this outside, youre going to get me in trouble." they tortured and killed him and chopped him up with a bone s...

Father has stepped in to help mitigate the crisis, meeting with secretary state pompeo, speaking by phone with president trump. king salman denies the death of khaishoggi. experts dont mean that prince mohammeds days are number but its possible his wings may be clipped and bit and going forward his reputation will be damaged. they add that pressure from within the kingdom is not the big motivator here. its pressure from the west that will have the biggest effect. >> shepard: if there is any. tha...
