Rising floodwaters have prompted people in Hay River, N.W.T., to leave their homes and businesses behind as unprecedented flooding spilled over the river banks and made staying behind unsafe for those in low-lying areas.

The Town of Hay River has issued an evacuation alert for the Corridor, Miron Drive, McBryan Drive, Capital Drive (Downtown) and Riverview Drive.
