The Mackay Meteorettes have made one of their most high-profile signings in the clubâs history.
Australian Opals player Cayla George will suit up for the 2021 NBL1 North season, with the 31 year old to use the NBL1 competition in Mackay as a pivotal preparation platform for the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games.
The 193cm forward-centre is no stranger to the international court, having represented Australia at the 2014 and 2018 FIBA World Cups where she collected bronze and silver medals respectively.
George also competed in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and the 2018 Commonwealth Games, taking home gold at the latter.
She was a member of Townsville Fire teams that won WNBL championships in 2015, 2016 and 2018 and most recently played with the Melbourne Boomers, where she averaged 14.2 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists per contest.
