The Vancouver Public Schools Board of Directors unanimously voted Wednesday night to appoint Camas schools Superintendent Jeff Snell as Vancouver Public Schools’ next top administrator.
Pending contract negotiations, Snell begins superintendent duties of Clark County’s second-largest school district and ninth-largest statewide July 1.
Snell was chosen after a nationwide search that began in late 2020 and drew 34 applicants to replace outgoing Superintendent Steve Webb. Snell spent the past 10 years in top-level district administration in the Camas School District, including serving as superintendent since 2016.

VANCOUVER, Wash. The holiday break for students is wrapping up and they’re getting ready to start winter term. In Vancouver, school support staff are also getting ready to head back after being furloughed in the fall.
Ruth Ingebrand is an instructional paraeducator at Mcloughlin Middle School in the Vancouver School District.
She and many other paraeducators help support students and certified teachers. In the spring, when the pandemic first hit, she was busy helping kids.
Vancouver Public Schools details in-person academic help for students

Vancouver Public Schools has detailed its plan for bringing select students into school buildings for in-person academic assistance as soon as Jan. 7.
The district has identified 953 students 520 elementary, 301 high school and 132 middle school students for in-person academic pods to help navigate remote learning. That number represents 4.4 percent of the district’s total enrollment, said district spokeswoman Pat Nuzzo. The district also has recalled 85 paraeducators and 152 classified staff, Nuzzo said, in anticipation of upcoming in-building academic services.
The district’s academic plan focuses on English language learners, students experiencing homelessness and students deemed academically at risk.
