DMK chief MK Stalin on Sunday said his party would continue to urge the union government to scrap the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act and confer citizenship on Sri Lankan Tamils living in refugee camps in India.
DMK chief MK Stalin s son, Udhayanidhi Stalin is all set to make his electoral debut in the upcoming assembly elections. He will be contesting from Chennai s Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni constituency on the party s ticket. Speaking to ANI, Udhayanidhi Stalin said: I have been given the ticket to contest from Chennai s Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni constituency. I thank the leaders who gave me chance to contest from this seat. I will work hard and hope to win by a huge victory. This time, many new faces, particularly women, youth and highly educated people have been given chance to contest these elections. I will meet Thalaivar (MK Stalin) and hope to meet you all again soon, he said.

Udhayanidhi Stalin, the actor-film producer son of DMK president M.K. Stalin has been fielded from Chennai’s Chepauk-Thiruvellikeni constituency – once held by his grandfather M. Karunanidhi.
The DMK on Saturday moved forward in its ongoing seat-sharing exercise with allies by giving six seats to MDMK though a deal with the Congress and CPI(M) was elusive, while the ruling AIADMK s negotiations with DMDK remained inconclusive. The MDMK would, however, contest on the rising sun symbol of its partner DMK according to the pact inked today by the leadership of both parties. This is the first time the MDMK would face the Tamil Nadu Assembly election together with the DMK since it was founded in 1994 after Vaiko was ousted from the then M Karunanidhi-led DMK. Vaiko, when asked if his party has given a list of preferred constituencies to DMK, said no.

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], January 10 (ANI): Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) Chief and MP Vaiko on Sunday strongly condemned the demolition of the Mullivaikkal War memorial at Jaffna University campus in Sri Lanka. I deplore the government which launched its troops, paramilitary forces to demolish the memorial erected within the premises of Jaffna University in the memory of thousands of Tamils killed in the genocide, Vaiko told ANI. They can demolish the memorial but cannot erase the memory from our mind, he added.
