SRINAGAR: The Editors Guild of India in a statement on Tuesday said that it is deeply anguished by the shutting down of the Kashmir Press Club, the biggest journalist body in the Kashmir valley, adding that it sets a dangerous precedent for media freedom.
SRINAGAR: Journalist bodies within Kashmir and at the national level have strongly condemned the weekend “takeover” of Kashmir Press Club (KPC) by a group of journalists, who appointed themselves as the “interim body”.
SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Monday deplored the forcible takeover and subsequent closure of the Kashmir Press Club, saying the measure is the latest milestone in dismantling all insignias of democracy.
In what is being called another example of the free press being 'throttled' in Kashmir, a group of journalists and newspaper owners escorted by armed forces took over the management of the Kashmir Press Club on January 15.
SRINAGAR: A court in Bandipora on Saturday granted bail to journalist Sajad Gul, who was arrested on January 5 by Jammu and Kashmir police. According to reports, the court of Judicial Magistrate in Sumbal Bandipora granted the bail to Gul.
