Heat death report to be released without names, addresses
Multnomah County says confidentiality requirements prevent the release of information that could improve understanding.
Multnomah County will release a report about those who died from the recent extreme heat wave next week without their names and addresses.
Although the county admitted such information can better explain why so many people 71 as of now died, confidentiality requirements prohibit its release. Many members of the media have requested the names and addresses of the people who died to help tell the stories of their lives and to better understand the circumstances of their deaths. The County agrees that more information can help both account for the deaths and drive future policies and planning, the release said.
