Share Via Email   |  A+A A- By Express News Service CHENNAI: The Triplicane police have registered a case against a man who allegedly broke a multi-para monitor worth Rs 2 lakh at Omandurar Government Hospital on Friday after his mother, who had been admitted at Covid ward, died without responding to treatment. The man identified as Shanmugarajan of Palavanthangal stayed at the hospital as an attender to his 54-year-old mother, who was admitted on June 16. After his mother was declared dead on Friday afternoon, an infuriated Shanmugarajan allegedly abused the doctor and nurses at the hospital apart from damaging a multi-para monitor.

Representative image GUWAHATI: A local court has extended the police custody of the nine prime accused in the doctor assault case in Assam’s Hojai district by three more days. Giving this informtion, Hojai superintendent of police Barun Purkayastha said police were initially allowed to take the accused under custody for three days. “At the end of the granted period, police sought three more days of police custody for the accused from the court. Accordingly, the court extended police custody of the accused for a period of three days which will end on Wednesday next,” he added. Police arrested two more persons were in connection with the case on Saturday while two others were arrested on Wednesday night. As many as 24 persons were arrested following the incident on Tuesday night.
