A radio host was shot dead while live streaming his program on Facebook at his home in the southern Philippines on Sunday, prompting a hunt for his killers and condemnation from the country’s president.

Juan Jumalon, a 57-year-old news broadcaster, was shot twice during a morning broadcast in Calamba town on Sunday morning, police said.

The incident, which happened at around 05:30 local time, was broadcast live.

According to local media and police reports, the suspect sought permission to enter Jumalon's radio booth to announce something important on air, while the latter was live-streaming on Facebook at around 05:30 local time.

Juan Jumalon, known as DJ Johnny Walker, was shot inside his home-based studio, police said.
