Gym outbreak in Quebec City leads to more than 140 COVID-19 infections
The CIUSSS ordered the gym closed on Wednesday morning for violating sanitary protocols. Despite the order, the facility remained open until about 3 p.m. That’s when Quebec City police showed up to shut the place down.

One day after issuing a “don’t panic” message, while maintaining plans to ease restrictions, the Quebec government announced Wednesday that in critical zones where there is an “explosion” of new COVID-19 infections, new restrictions will be imposed for 10 days.
The affected areas include: the Quebec City region, Chaudière Appalaches south of the capital, the Lower St. Lawrence and the Outaouais, including Gatineau, across the Ottawa River from Ottawa, and will move from the orange zone to the red zone.

Schools and non-essential businesses are to close and the curfew will move ahead to 8 p.m. from 9:30 p.m. in Quebec City, Levis and Gatineau for at least 10 days, Legault said in Quebec City Wednesday. “We are very worried,” Legault said, noting that the situation continues to deteriorate in the three cities. “Today and yesterday the cases are rising almost exponentially.” Health officials in the Quebec City area, for example, reported 111 new cases on Sunday. Within 48 hours that number jumped to 194.
