NH&MP launches road safety campaign

LAHORE: National Highways and Motorway Police launched a campaign here Wednesday to create awareness about safety helmets, back view mirrors and head and tail lights of bikes.
Officers of motorway police were also present on the occasion. Back view mirrors were installed at motorcyclists and safety helmets were distributed free-of-cost among road users. The motorcyclists were briefed about other safety tips necessary while riding a bike. During the campaign, it was asserted that safety helmet is not only mandatory for bike rider but also for pillion rider too.
Inaugurating the campaign, NH&MP Training College Sheikhupura Commandant DIG Mehboob Aslam said that motorcyclists were involved in most of the accidents so that it was needed to educate and guide them about road safety measures. Motorway police, in collaboration with a private company, launched a road safety campaign and installed side mirrors, indicators, and reflecting lights on motorcycles, and distributed helmets among the citizens in Karachi.
Speaking to media, Commandant Training College DIG Mehboob Aslam said that the main reason for the accidents was the absence of headlights installed in motorcycles, people not using rearview mirrors, and absence of backlights.

KARACHI: Eighty per cent of motorcyclists get into road accidents due to their negligence, traffic experts said Thursday.

LAHORE:National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) is an organisation which has made us feel pride not only in Pakistan but among comity of nations by adhering to the values of honesty, courtesy and equal implementation of law, said Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar while inaugurating a water filtration plant at NHMP Training College, Sheikhupura. Upon arrival at NHMP Training College, the governor was given guard of honour by officers of NHMP. Later, the governor inaugurated water filtration plant donated by Sarwar Foundation.
Talking to officers of NHMP, Ch Sarwar said the water filtration plant, which has capacity to purify two thousand litre water per hour, is gift for trainee officers of NHMP.
