Some ANC councillors have had a change of heart and want the Msunduzi council to rescind its decision not to give Maritzburg United R48 million in sponsorship.
The matter came up during Tuesday’s meeting where ANC councillors said Msunduzi could not risk losing the team to another city.
“The club wants to pull out from the City and I’m not convinced that we should allow the club of this magnitude one of the clubs that is in the PSL to leave. I’m not sure that we should close this report,” said the ANC’s Mehmood Oumar.
