The city limits of Decatur will expand slightly on Clairemont Avenue. At its May 15 regular meeting, the Decatur City Commission approved an annexation ordinance to bring the properties of 1121 and 1123 Clairmont Road into the city. 

The Decatur City Commission, during its regular meeting on May 15, accepted a request from Smarties Academy to withdraw their application and plans to expand the daycare at 465 Clairemont Ave.

Ahead of the May 15 Decatur City Commission meeting, Smarties Academy has withdrawn two requests that would've allowed the daycare to expand its operations.

The City of Decatur Planning Commission, at its May 9 meeting, unanimously agreed to reject two requests from Smarties Academy, a daycare at 465 Clairemont Avenue.

The Decatur Planning Commission will meet on Tuesday, May 9, at 7:30 p.m. at Decatur City Hall, 509 N. McDonough Street, and virtually via Zoom.

Residents of Oak Ridge can have tree limbs, and other brush picked up in the city beginning May 8.

Oak Ridge citywide household trash pickup program is underway. Household rubbish, old appliances, and minor remodeling materials will be picked up.

Oak Ridge citywide brush pickup is set for May 9 through June 24.
