“When it fell, it fell so dramatically – overnight,” the 41-year-old recalls as we sit in a barn conversion office near the farmhouse in which she was raised. “In our industry, everything [last year] was running right until the very last minute. Then after we cancelled in early March… all of these people lost their work. And a lot of our crew had to get work in deliveries or whatever, but many people weren’t able to find other work. “Everybody has really struggled, particularly in the arts – because there’s no security as to those [events] ever happening again, frankly. It’s more optimistic now, but from March last year, the feeling was: ‘What am I gonna do?’”

It was revealed today (Thursday) that the organisers of Glastonbury have been granted a licence to stage a two-day event in September. It s expected to be a family-friendly festival, but Mendip Council s imposed more than 50 conditions - including a ban on camping and demanding fewer than 50,000 people be allowed on site in total, rather than around 200,000.
