The Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission is soliciting applications from experienced Hoosier lawyers and judges interested in serving on the Indiana Court of Appeals.

Those who argue for merit selection know that it gives them their best chance to get judges on the bench who share their political and policy views.

Judge Dana Kenworthy, of Grant County, will succeed Indiana Supreme Court Justice Derek Molter, a Newton County native, on the 15-judge Court of Appeals.

The assault against elected judges has entered a new and more dangerous phase: Millions of dollars are being poured into efforts to promote “merit” selection of state judges, a system in which unelected, unaccountable experts and special interests.

Retention elections are the only opportunity for Indiana voters to have a say in who serves on the states appellate courts.
