School forced to close for in-person learning after exposure threatens staff that chose not to vaccinate Updated: 10:16 AM MDT Apr 14, 2021 Share Updated: 10:16 AM MDT Apr 14, 2021 A junior high school in Bloomfield has been closed after there was “enough potential exposure among staff members who chose not to be vaccinated.”Bloomfield officials decided to close Mesa Alta for two weeks saying the potential exposure at the school could no longer support in-person learning. Mesa Alta will reopen for in-person learning on April 26. The New Mexico Public Education Department does not require teachers to be vaccinated for COVID-19 at this time.
