ukrainians are giving up. zelenskyy has fled. all of these things are wrong. and then there s the wider messaging that they re trying to do to the outside world, to the west, and that isn t going very well either. there s the strong sanctions, there are protests around the world, where it is seeing protests in moscow and around russia, so the vaunted russian messaging machine is coming up against reality and it s losing. and richard, partly part of what they re showing on russian tv, russian state tv, is donald trump praising vladimir putin, secretary pompeo, tucker carlson. you know, with his praise of putin and denigration of joe biden. that s part of their propaganda. just wanted to show you let me show you what mitt romney had to say about that this morning. how anybody in this country which loves freedom can side with vladimir putin, which is an
productive, but how do we make sure everybody knows what s going on in cyberspace so we don t inadvertently cross over each other. and richard, what about the russian propaganda and disinformation campaign? there are words you can t use, they are not at war, they haven t attacked. this is not an invasion, this is a military, what is it, a military situation? there s all kinds of ambiguous strange phrases that have to be used by the russian media. yes, andrea, but the russian messaging machine is struggling. they have multiple audiences. you re talking about their internal audience. part of the problem with messaging to their internal audience is this stubborn thing called reality. they re actually not doing it that well. they re not covering it 24/7. we re covering it much more closely than they are. the other messaging russia cares about is messaging to ukraine. that also is being denied by reality. the russians are saying hey, the
prefer democrats, and if the democrats are up in the generic battle, they are actually tied, and here they are down. how much is their fate in their own hands right now? is much is it tied to the guy not even on the ticket with them in this cycle? it s a huge problem for democrats. one thing going against democrats is conventional wisdom is returning where it no longer applied at all for several years, and that means the party in power has a terrible time in the midterms, and they will have to message, hey, we know you are still feeling the negative affects of the economy but we are doing x, y and z, we boosted jobs, and inflation is a problem, and we have a plan for that and try to message and say hold on, give us more time to try and get this going and don t give up, but it s not going to be an easy fight. it s going to be against very strong republican messaging machine that you will see
don t plan to be an impartial fair juror. rules going back to 1868 say you have to be an impartial juror. or at least you have to pretend he goes on fox and says we will be coordinated and won t change. so the jurors are telling people live on tv we re going to coordinate with the defendants. i think every american understands that s mad. there s new polling out today that shows 51% support impeachment removal. that s quite high. abc s poll has 70% but that s still a strong majority we should have witnesses. i think they went down because it sounds like if you still say it on a nonpartisan basis, of course we want witnesses. they will realize at least the senate republican message is no witnesses and then that happens in polling sometimes before the messaging machine catches up and then
done. when there is something going on, he puts a lot out there to distract. his staff is doing it in a more measured fashion. when some of his top aides were on the hill yesterday, they asked about impeachment, the reporters, but they also talked about domestic work he s getting done. they are looking forward to when there is a democratic presidential candidate to have someone to contrast the president with. i think there is a strategy here. the president just kind of takes it to his own level. if you look at the campaign, which is the more disciplined and professional part of this messaging machine, they re making the same argument more cleanly than he did at the rally. the final arg ument at the rall is us versus them. on instagram he said, they re not coming for me, they r coming for you, i just happen to be in your way. that s the core of this message. on a lighter note, what is wrong with the appliances and plumbing at the white house?
