The Railways has extended the services of some special trains. Train No 02620 Mangaluru Central-Lokmanya Tilak Terminal Daily Festival Special will be extended to run from January 1, 2021 to January 31, 2021. Train No 02619 Lokmanya Tilak Terminal-Mangaluru Central Daily Festival Special will be extended to run from January 2, 2021 to February 1, 2021. Train No 06338 Ernakulam-Okha Bi-weekly Festival Special running on Fridays and Wednesdays will have extended exercises on January 1, 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27 and on January 29, 2021.
Train No 06337 Okha-Ernakulam Bi-weekly Festival Special running on Mondays and Saturdays will have extended services on January 4, 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, 25, 30 and on February 1, 2021.

The BJP leader submits 50 lakh signatures in support of NEP to CM
State BJP president L. Murugan on Monday said the party’s alliance with the AIADMK continues and that it is strong.
“Your question is about the alliance continuing. Our only answer is that the alliance continues. You will get an answer for everything very soon,” Mr. Murugan told reporters after meeting Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and submitting 50 lakh signatures in support of the New Education Policy.
Signature campaign Mr. Murugan said the BJP unit undertook a signature campaign across the State and explained the benefits of the NEP to the people. It also told them that the DMK was double-faced on the issue, and that schools being run by DMK members were teaching up to five languages, he added.

He was collecting fines from citizens in Jayanagar
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has appointed marshals to levy fines on those found to be not just littering, but also not wearing masks and not maintaining social distancing.
Recently, a man claiming to be marshal was found collecting fines from citizens in Jayanagar. He was allegedly in possession of a wireless instrument and a file said to be of BBMP. Suspicious citizens reported this to the BBMP. The person has been identified as Kiran, 19, who was handed over to the Tilak Nagar police.
958 new cases, nine deaths in Karnataka on Wednesday

The State on Wednesday reported 958 new cases of COVID-19, taking the total number of cases to 9,12,340. With nine deaths, the toll rose to 12,038. This is apart from 19 deaths of patients due to non-COVID-19 reasons.
As many as 1,206 persons were discharged on Wednesday, taking the total number of recoveries to 8,86,547. Of the remaining 13,736 active patients, 217 were being monitored in ICUs. While the positivity rate for the day stood at 0.96%, the Case Fatality Rate (CFR) touched 0.93%.
Bengaluru Urban reported 550 cases, taking its tally to 3,84,366. With two deaths coming from Bengaluru, the toll in this district rose to 4,282.
UK returnees being identified

The Telangana government has sounded an alert for UK returnees while gathering their details and monitoring their status of health in view of the new strain of coronavirus caused increased number of new cases in that country.
As many as 1,200 returnees to the State from UK were identified since December 9. All of them were subjected to health check up and none of them tested positive, a release of Director of Public Health G. Srinivasa Rao said.
He appealed to people who either arrived in the State directly from UK or travelled via that country to give their information on phone number 040-24651119 or WhatsApp number 9154170960.
