WARREN Councilman Ron White is asking the police and city administration to increase patrols in the west side neighborhoods around Starlite Drive, after an 89-year-old wheelchair-bound woman was shot inside 3178 Starlite Drive NW.
White, D-7th Ward, said he had known Ruth “Mama” Lewis for most of his life.
“There has been an increasing level of violence in the area,” the White said. “I would like to have more of an increased police presence. Not just for right now, but for patrol officers to continue to have a presence here.”
The councilman said he has been hearing that the shooting was retaliation involving some of younger people in the neighborhood.
